WIS 26 corridor - Bike route planning study

Project overview

The WIS 26 bike route plan was published in September 2005. The goal was to identify a network of bike routes parallel to WIS 26 that would facilitate bicycle travel between the communities along the corridor. The study limits extended from the city of Janesville to WIS 60 north of the city of Watertown.

Outcome

The outcome of the study was the identification, development and prioritization of a series of feasible and functional bike routes that would provide safe, direct connections between communities and promote bicycling as an alternative form of transportation. In many cases, the routes also filled missing links in the state’s trail network. Routes were classified according to their ultimate feasibility and implementation timeframe.
