WIS 26 corridor - Expansion project - Segment 1, Janesville to Milton

Project overview

Segment 1 consists of spot improvements from just south of the County Y intersection north to Town Line Road. The existing 4-lane divided roadway will remain. Private driveway accesses onto WIS 26 will be relocated to either existing side roads, new frontage roads or new development streets.

Schedule

Real estate acquisition is scheduled to start in 2008.

Construction of relocated WIS 59 and County M is scheduled for 2009. The estimated construction cost is $5.5 million (in 2008 dollars).

The following proposed improvements are circled and lettered on the map above:

1. Construction of a bicycle/pedestrian bridge over WIS 26 just south of County Y.
2. Reconstruction of County Y intersection with traffic access restricted to right turns only onto and off of WIS 26.
3. Construction of new frontage roads on both sides of WIS 26 between County Y and Woodcrest Drive.
4. Reconstruction of the McCormick Drive intersection and repaving of McCormick Drive to accommodate County Y traffic.
5. Construction of a bridge for the extension of Wright Road over WIS 26.
6. Elimination of the Bingham Road intersection (Bingham Road will become a cul de sac).
7. Construction of an interchange at Town Hall Road including the extension of Town Hall Road to Town Line Road.
