WIS 26 corridor - Expansion project - Segment 6, Jefferson to Johnson Creek

Project overview

Segment 6 consists of reconstructing two miles of the existing highway between the city of Jefferson and village of Johnson Creek. The new highway will be expanded to two lanes in each direction with a grass median.

A limited number of at-grade intersections will be maintained; other intersections will be closed for safety reasons. Frontage roads are being considered on both sides of the highway for the area just north of Jefferson to accommodate private driveway access.

Schedule

Real estate acquisition is scheduled to start in late 2008.

Construction of this segment is scheduled for 2010. The estimated construction cost is $7 million (in 2008 dollars).
