Freeway Service Team

• To promote safe roads, WisDOT, State Patrol and County Sheriffs have a common goal of quickly clearing traffic incidents and disabled vehicles from our roadways. To support this, the Freeway Service Team (FST) program has been implemented.

MONITOR

• MONITOR is a computerized system that collects data through the use of electronic detectors, closed circuit television cameras, ramp meters and variable messages signs.
• It is designed to improve the safety and efficiency of the statewide freeway system by reducing incidents and relieving traffic congestion.

• Traffic incident management enhancement is a coordinated approach to reducing the effects of traffic incidents.

Southwest Wisconsin Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) resources

• Southwest Wisconsin ITS program covers ten counties in southwestern Wisconsin and four counties in northern Illinois.
