Real-time traffic information - Merrimac Ferry

The Merrimac Ferry Traveler Information System provides travelers with an estimate of their wait time to use the ferry service.

The Merrimac Ferry is a free car ferry service across the Wisconsin River on WIS 113 between Merrimac and Okie. During peak season, up to 1,200 vehicles a day use this service, creating a line of up to 50 cars.

The traveler information system automatically detects vehicles as they line up at the ferry landings and computes an estimated wait time for the ferry service.

Messages indicating wait times in 15-minute increments are displayed on roadside signs both along the ferry waiting ramps and remote signage along the roadways leading to the ferry crossing.
